I am looking nto improve my recognition of rock types in the field. So I am looking for websites or books that have plenty of pictures - worth more than a thousand words!! Anyone have any suggestions

personally I have found gold in patches and have found that the best way to recognise the formations and geology was to look at the area were ya gold came from--WA gold areas would be different from Qld and Vic.
Always take a digital camers--they always come in handy.
Green stone - calcrete-ironstone-quartz-etc are tye true indicators of what I look for in the field.
And dont forget the old creek beds which are now high and dry.

When you see quartz running through rock, I think they call them quartz stringers, they can be pencil thin or much thicker, how do you read these?
