GP3000 Coil

I'm just wondering fellows, on the 3000, the original coil that came with the machine was a DD, that you could switch over to Mono with a flick of a switch on the machine. My question is if I put the DD coil that came with my 5000 on to my 3000 would the 3000 play up or even work. Or vicer-versa 5000 with the 3000 coil. Just don't want to take to many coils out with me, if I take out both machines. Don't want to try it just in case it courses problems to the 3000 or 5000, without checking it out with some of you guys first that may have tried it and had problems.

Gday bill I would say that it would not matter which coil you used on 3000 or the 5000 mabe check it out with the boys at coiltek see what they recon.

The configuration windings of dd coils have remained pretty much the same as that of old Wombat. You should have no problems of the newer Commander dd coil off your GPX 5000 working on the 3000.Actually you should find the new Commander 11 inch dd slightly better on sensitivity and depth on the 3000 than that of the 3000s original GP 3000 coil.The difference being is that the latter is Litz wound and the earlier aint.Both will work on either machines.

Fencejumper I've only used the DD once on the 5000 in very trashy area and tuned up the discriminator to about 8 but I did not like it as I was scared that I may have been missing those small nuggets as well. But the 3000 has a switch that you can flick over to get Mono or DD if you put on a DD in the first place and check most targets.

G'day Wombat

This is the same switch on the GPX5000 it is the "DD" "Mono" "Cancel" switch, it does the exact same thing as the switch your talking about on your 3000. Its for using a DD coil in either DD mode or Mono mode or Cancel mode, on any of the GPX or GP series machines.

Thanks Dave, but I thought that switch on the 5000 was when you are using, say, the DD coil you had to switch it over to DD and when you are using the Mono the switch had to be on Mono mode. That is why Minelab gave us 2 different coils, not one like the 3000.

Gday Bill the switch on the 5000 does the same as the one on the 3000 they just changed the name the same as the GP Extreme, if you have a DD on and switch it to mono your DD will only use half the windings and work like a mono coil 11"*5.5" hope this helps you

gday mike54 ive a gp3000 so if i put on my coiltek 14 inch dd and switch it to mono ive a 7inch mono on just wondering because ive always thought about buying a sadie or joey mono but i cant see the point if this works cheers
