Hi all,

Well I finally got my first detector, a new MXT, I have only had it out a few times trying to get the workings of it sorted. Lots of ringpulls, .22 pellets and assorted trash but had a great time learning.

I am currently travelling with work and will be heading home in a few days through Wedderburn, Inglewood. I took my detector with me so thought it might be worthwhile having a few hours 'swinging' to break up the trip home.

If someone is able to direct to some legal areas it would be great. Just a general idea would be great if possible. I am praying for decent weather on Saturday so I can get a few good hours

Thanks
Geehi Very Happy Very Happy

G'day Geehi, pretty much anywhere north-east of Wedderburn would be worth a try, a few of the places that would really be worth a go are a no go, area's around there that you are not allowed to prospect are well signed.

Good luck.

I suggest you get yourself a 'Gold and Relic' map of Wedderburn from Miners Den.At $20 or so it is ideal for the purpose....Trev.

Hi Geehi and other newer members,
A useful tool for the Victorian gold fields is the DPI site "geovic"
Search "geovic"
Select "interactive maps"
you will see a map of Vic and a link below "Explore Vic Online" click on this
Zoom in on your selected location
On the right hand side of the map is a section "Layers"
Click on Minerals and choose "Mines" and also "leads & workings"
Click on "Land status" and select "Crown land"
You need to "refreash map" for any changes you make to the layers
Note.... you need to be Zoomed in reletivley close to see some details eg "diggings"
Good luck
Cheers Mark.

Hi..I would suggest a John Tully map of the area would be better, if he has one of Wedderburn. I have found the gold and relic maps not that reliable especially the ones on the Dunolly fields. Tully maps have alot more detail..but thats just my opinion.

Thanks for the advice, will drop past the Miners Den and are looking up the maps. My internet while travelling is very on/off but will let you know how I went when I finally get home.

Again thanks for taking the time to help

Geehi
