International border to open 'by Christmas at the latest', Trade Minister says
Trade Minister Dan Tehan has given Australians assurance that the international border will reopen by Christmas at the latest.

Under the national plan,Australians will be able to travel overseas again once 80 per cent of adults aged over 16 have been fully vaccinated. It's not yet clear whether travel will be permitted to any other country, or whether there'll be a staged reopening.

Mr Tehan, who's about to embark upon a multi-country tour, says he empathises with Australians who've been barred from leaving the country for over a year.

"It's another reason why everyone should get vaccinated and we have to stick to the national plan that will see our international border open up – at this rate by Christmas at the latest."
