Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Does that mean Dave that people living in these communities on the pastoral leases are banned or exempt from detecting?
If they are exempt that would seem unfair?
Is to protect the communities during covid? if so are the restrictions permanent??

Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Just hope this is not permanent. Looks like big brother waving his stick. If this is real then we are being victimized again

Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
From my reading of this, it is a permanent change !
This is yet again racial discrimination against the non indigenous, and will only drive a bigger wedge between us.
This is Australia, there should be one rule for all, not a pandering to minorities !

Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I cannot believe this will be permanent. If it is then that wedge will be driven further. I am not racial, i have worked in communities. But I do not think the majority of them would agree with this ruling. I would think the powers to be just think that is what they are doing is right. Just the same as the government departments dictate how to spend money and decide what the various aboriginal communities want, regardless of what they need or ask for.

Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The restrictions were announced in the Gazette last Friday.
The preamble reads
'MP401
MINING ACT 1978
DECLARATION OF CROWN LAND REMOVED FROM OPERATION
I, William Joseph Johnston MLA, Minister for Mines and Petroleum, pursuant to section 40F of the Mining Act 1978, hereby declare that section 40E does not apply to Crown land specified hereunder.
Description of Land
The designated area in Western Australia described in schedule 1 to the Biosecurity (Human Biosecurity Emergency) (Human Coronavirus with Pandemic Potential) (Emergency Requirements for Remote Communities) Determination 2020 made under subsection 477(1) of the Biosecurity Act 2015 (Cth);"
It is quite clearly aimed at keeping tourists away from isolated communities, however in typical bureaucratic bumbling overreach they have stopped access to pastoral leases like Glenorn which has no community on it and is subleased by Glencore's Murrin Murrin operations.
Link to gazette is HERE
Look for minerals and petroleum about 2/3 of the way through.

Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I am sure they would love to use any excuse they can. What I think has happened is the bureaucrats have done a hasty ban without anyone checking the details. A typical gummint clusterf*** Now they will have a couple of weeks work tidying up the mess they created and they will probably want extra pay for doing it.
I hope that APLA is on to it on our behalf.
