activating amp on gpx 5000 battery

just ordered double speakers for the 5000 when they arrived plugged them in they had very little sound the amp was not working on the battery it turned out the speakers had headphone connection on them .so looked at the wiring inside the battery and all I did on the speaker male connection was put 1 layer of clear cellotape round it about 15 mill wide from the cable side plugged it in and they work perfect did the same with head phones and it really boosts them could be to much for some people has any body done this

Are you saying the double speakers were wired as "headphones" ? And you have isolated the headphone common connection inside the amp/batt and the amp is ALWAYS on ?

Cheers no never done anything to the amp on your headphones jack put a bit of clear cellotape halfway down the shaft of the jack when this goes inside the socket on the battery there are 3 pins 1 live one negative and one with a blue wire when the blue wire cannot make a conection to the male jack it turns on the amp

I wouldn't be boosting the headphones, you'll end up with hearing damage, and yes I use the dual external speakers with the B&Z booster on the following detectors, GPX4500, GPZ7000, SDC2300 for excellent results.
