SDC2300 On The beach
The SDC works very well on salt beaches and achieves good depth on coins and jewellery in wet or dry sand.
BUT! If you are tempted to use the Normal mode over the dry sand where the tecta runs smooth, when searching for Aussie 1 and 2 dollar coins; Don't, because in Normal Mode the sensitivity to these coins is significantly weaker than in the Salt Mode. The timing is different between the two modes with Norm being much better suited to gold than to the Nickel, aluminium and copper content of the 1 & 2 dollar coins.
As an example In Norm my SDC can just weakly detect these coins at 5 inches (Coil on the ground sens at 1 notch down from max) in my test patch but in Salt mode the detector will ping them easily with the coil approx 6 to 8 inches above the ground, giving a total depth of better than approx 14 inches.
I am interested to know if anybody else has noticed this?

Re: SDC2300 On The beach
HI Jen.
The salt mode works extremely well on wet salt sand beaches.
Even though The Norm mode groans and moans a bit over the wet salt sand, it still finds targets. It is fine on the dry sand.
have no idea how the salt mode handles salt lakes, although I see no reason why it should not work well.
