Hi to all you members oldtimers and newbies,

Im a long time coin hunter, been watching/lurking the gold forums for a few months, got the fever, been using my vlf machine (minelab explorer) in the heavy mineralized GT, bought a better vlf machine (Deus) tried again,
bought a gpx 5000 last week, with rooster booster. been out 5-6 times. machine is very nice but has some electrical (noise) like a hum in the background, doesn't seem to be affecting the performance but is quite distracting to contend with it on faint signals. I have fairly bad hearing loss as well as tinitus, so
Im wondering if anyone can offer some advice about the rooster booster/GPX 5000 setup??
been wiggling all the connections, wires, re-read the directions a few times and reset the settings on the 5000 a few different ways, lowered gain, threshhold, audio settings, it got a slightly quieter.
The sound is just like my guitar amp when I have the volume cranked up fairly high as in preamp noise/hum.
Can this be overcome, or does this sound also happen for others using the rooster booster?
thanks for any reply's and have a great day hunting guys.
cheers, winnemucca

G'day winnemucca & welcome to the forum

I have been using the B&Z booster for a lot of years and continue to use the B&Z booster, I tried the rooster booster and sold it.

There is some info on the forum if you type rooster booster into the search.

Good luck out there with your GPX5000 and hope you get some gold.

cheers dave

Dave, thanks for the heads up on the search and past links, as I have inherited this Rooster Booster with the machine, I'll try without it and look at the B&Z or something else.
Im sure a booster is needed for my hearing loss.
