I just purchased a brand new GPX5000, GPS, Pick etc. Where is the nearest place to Camden NSW I can go to find my treasure?

They were very helpful in all aspects. They suggested Hill End and the surrounding areas.

Hmmm the closest place to find treasure eh?, well if your reading this then your sitting in front of your computer and that is the closest to treasure you are at the moment, if your refering to gold as your treasure then use it well to do some research on historical gold bearing areas and thier accessability and to educate yourself about gold and its properties and how it deposits and such other geological matters that may influence your chances of finding some gold, if your treasure is relics then the same applies, research, research, research...........buying the detector is the easy part, the real work starts....now

Hill End and surrounding areas is a good place to start, for a beginner it's best to look where gold has been found before and go from there.

Thanks for all your replies, you have been very informative. I am doing the usual research one would expect to do when embarking in a hobby that requires unmeasurable knowledge and experience such as viewing youtube videos, reading books and whatever info I can get on the net and of-course this site. I have purchased gold detecting books by Stephen Barnham and DVD's by Chris Gholson and a very informative DVD specifically made for the GPX5000.

I have taken this hobby very seriously and wish to make a success out of it and hope that what I'll learn will be helpful to others.
