Memoir of Mrs Chauncy
Biography of Mrs Chauncy (Susan Augusta Mitchell 1828 - 1867) written by her husband. She was born in Bombay, India, accompanied her father The Reverend William Mitchell to Western Australia in 1838, married Phillip Chauncy in 1848. Chauncy was a colonial surveyor and his life was at the frontier, with his wife often his companion. They moved to Victoria in the 1853, following a major goldrush. He describes the privations of Melbourne and Victoria during the rush. An original copy of the book is available at the Battye Library of Western Australia.
