Weekend at Windyerer NSW
Hi all, went on a training day held by Nuggets from down under during the week. Everyone who attended found some little nuggets and had a good time running around on some private property. Im quite happy with the 4 little pieces i picked up including the nice one of 2.4 grams.
Good to see theres still some bigger pieces still out there.

Re: Weekend at Windyerer NSW
Congrats Jack and Maarit!
On this weekends Nuggets from Down Under training day there was a wonderful father and son team Gerad & Jonah. They had never detected before and only picked up thier new GPX5000 the previous afternoon.
Saturday morning they were up at the crack of dawn excited but doubtful that they had a snow balls chance in hell of finding gold.
Thier faces in the following photo speak volumes as to the fun they had and the tuition they recieved.

Hi Atrix,
Nothing to do with me! The gentleman who heleped this pair could teach a rock to swim!
Gerad and Jonah are both keen fishermen so already had two things in thier favour...attitude and patience.

Nice one Tuna, Well done to Gerad and Jonah on finding your first bit so soon after begining to detect, well I'd say now your hooked. What a feeling it is to find your first piece too, I remember doing a dance similar to that one.

Re: Weekend at Windyerer NSW
Hey Madtuna, Just got back from the coast. I caught your vid of the guys with their nugget, I remember my first nugget, I recall running down the hill nearly falling arse up to show the mate i was with, Lots of good words came out then too lol
Its a shame you weren't there when i got the 2.4 gram piece the few days before hand, would have looked good on video.
Im looking forward to another trip up that way soon, wouldnt mind catching up if your not to busy now with nuggets downunder.
Cheers

Re: Weekend at Windyerer NSW
Hi JackO! yep mate sorry I missed you, your 2.4gr dig would have made good yootoob! Will make an effort to catch up very soon!
This weekend a lovely lady dug a nice 2.7gr flat water worn nugget. It was her first ever go at detecting and the very first target and hole she dug! Some good gold was found by most and a fun time was had by all despite the heat!
I lucked onto a couple of small patches of tiddlers this weekend which was fun with the 8" Commander and gave me a good excuse to do some experimenting with Fine & Enhance which was an eye opener!
Cheers!

Re: Weekend at Windyerer NSW
Thanks Chop and Duck!
Yep Duck, the 5000 with the 8" and Fine Gold timings.
I did some mucking around on a patch no bigger than the average sized loungeroom and pulled up about 5 or 6 in Enhance.
When I was confident I hadn't missed anything I flicked over to Fine Gold and did it again. I pinged and marked anothe 6 or 7 targets!
I switched back to Enhance and checked each one, Enhance either didn't hear them or heard them only because I knew they were there, but nothing or not enough to pull me up and dig.
I'll upload a video later which clearly shows the difference, an "F" word at the end of the video as this one was a BB at about 6 or 7 inches
A lot of these little .2gr or smaller fellas were 4,5, 6, 7, 8 inches under!
Some poopah Fine Gold timings as not worth the upgrade but remember 6 inches is only 2 or 3 pick whack into the ground, so no effort to dig and retrieve. These little fellas also cover my fuel each weekend plus have paid for my detector.
If you do an area in Enhance and are pulling out the tiddlers, go back over it in Fine Gold and you may be pleasantly surprised.
cheers!
Steve

Re: Weekend at Windyerer NSW
Thats some nice work there Steve, Its been awhile since i came across a small patch like that...or even a big one. Your right about the timing between enhanced and fine gold, its a big deference between them. I too have played around with the settings and would have missed small pieces if hadn't been using find gold setting.
Well, My work has been pushed back for a week till Sat 5th Feb, Ill be looking to get out for maybe an over night run before i go back, Hill End maybe...
Pm me if you like, let me know what your movements are. Or anyone else whos interested in a run.
Cheers
