In my experience, 130 grams of nuggets from both the sdc and 6000. It will pick up pieces as small but 3 inches deeper. (sdc 10x5 coiltek coil, 6000 11 inch standard coil) Amazingly the 6000 is lighter than the sdc... so if you were inclined you can swing it for a lot longer... Their main drawback is hot rock..... frustratingly bad in the summer but bearable (just) in the winter... Good luck!.
By the way I sold my sdc..... when you go over patches that you have hammered with sdc and find more gold..... is proof in itself.

Yeah I only just bought a 6000 and took it for a swing for a hour last night. First thing I learnt was it picks up hot rocks 🤔. Ran it full noise. Than tried auto 1 and it stopped picking up so many hot rocks but the emi was pretty crazy. So still learning that happy medium.

SDC goes ok against the 6000 in the first 2-3” with the standard coil. Any deeper than that the 6000 rules.

Well old 49r you is a newbie but here is a simplified explanation....

I am only familiar with detecting in the Murchison WA...

Hot rock happens in mineralised ground.... generally dark (ironstone) and believe it or not the hotter the day gets the more signal it gives off.

Winter is far different prospecting than summer.... a lot quieter...

Rule of thumb it is highly magnetic.... so if you have a good magnet on your pick it will stick to it....

When prospecting get a decent magnet, not a cheap A*s* tuesday jobby as after your boot Mr Magnet is your best friend.

By boot I mean... if you get a signal, scrape the area with your foot.... hot rock is generally on the surface... so it will clear off to one side.... Gold generally will be deeper but not always.

A keen prospector will wear out the side of his boot long before the sole....

Good luck...

make sure you buy one that is a recent build, nothing over 2 months old as if its older than that it will need sent in for the "speaker EMI fix" update where they have to re-solder some new components on the main PCB. No point buying one that needs that done when new ones built in the past couple of months have it done already. If you're unsure if the one you're buying has it done make a phone call to Minelab while at the shop with it's serial number and they'll be able to tell you if its a new one with the problem fixed. New ones also have better plastic for the coils that doesn't crack as easily.

Thanks phrunt, I am buying a 6000 that was originally purchased in August so I’ll check the serial number with mine lab.
I appreciate the heads up 👍🏻
