I have been sent some x-coils for the GPX model detectors and will be heading to Stuart Town on Sunday 17th to give them a run, if anyone wants to try them out while I am there they are most welcome to meet there and have a go.

The sizes of the x-coils are  12" spiral round, 15" spiral round, a 15x10 spiral and a 17x12 spiral.

X-Coils for GPX4500/5000 Empty Work on older machines?

Post  Ivan N on Fri Nov 15, 2019 2:43 pm

G'day Dave; just wondering if you know anything about these coils working on the older machines, like the SD series, they are a type of DD coil are'nt they?
If so, what price are they and how can one get their hands on em?

G'day Ivan N

Yes they should work on the GP and SD machines also, but these X-Coils for these GPX model detectors are "Mono" coils these x-coils that have "Spiral" on them are flat wound mono's similar to the NF evos and the Colitek elite.

None of the x-coils for the GPX detectors are DD wound, these are a completely different x-coil to the ones for the GPZ7000 which are specifically only for that machine.

I am the contact for sales for these coils, and the retail price for these is $650 which includes postage and 12 months warranty.

You can PM me for more details.

Good luck out there Joe I think it's a (12x6) u got but hey u can call it whatever you like Very Happy

Yes the cables on the ones that arrived the other day in the pictures the cables are much better. Very Happy

I'm heading out tomorrow to give them a run and hope to get a bit of video as well, mostly on test targets as the Stuart Town gold field does not have much gold left but it is a gold field and according to the old records about 5 ton of gold was removed, both reef and alluvial and specimen.

There are only a few x-coils in the country for the GPX detectors yet, and yes these x-coils that arrived are for Demo/Loan out etc, so lets see how it all goes.

G'day Mike, hows things up your way, I sure hope those fires up there stayed away from you.

Yes I have up till now hardly had time to use the x-coils on the GPX 4500 but will be giving them a go tomorrow.

I really like the performance that has been packed into the spiral X-Coils for the 7000 and these for the 4500 are also spiral (flat wound) and I am looking forward to giving them a good work out. Yes fancy stickers and paintwork looks nice. Smile

X-Coils for GPX4500/5000 Empty Mono ay?

Post  Ivan N on Sat Nov 16, 2019 3:00 pm

Thanx for your reply Dave, I bought a detech 14in mono and tried it on victorian ground, and frankly they are a nightmare, the noise and digging up false signals became tiring very quick, i had to go back to my dd for a bit of sanity. So the xcoil at least for my SD sounds like a no go. I did try the detech at Mt Crawford in the Adelaide hills, as it was way quieter and quite usable.
I want to go the GPZ route but i just can't get out enough at this point in time to justify buying one.
I will never sell my SD though as it's a very deep machine and very easy to set up, so i can't complain about that.
I am looking to maybe swap this detech mono for a newer style 14-15in dd if anyone is interested?

Thanks Dave, all good here in town but 2 local villages pretty much wiped out plus sadly loss of lives. Mate on cattle property had fences burnt. Fortunately this allowed neighbouring stock trying to escape the flames after a wind change access thus saving a good number.
Has been pretty bloody dreadful, the showground full of people who have lost everything.

Looking forward to analysis of your X results re the 4500. Cool
Cheers..mike

For those that were asking about x-coils for gpx model detectors there are a couple more sizes added now.  A 10" spiral mono and a 12x6 semi spiral.

These coils work equally well on all PI type detectors like gpx, gp, and QED type machines.

You can buy X-coils at http://www.x-coils.com

10" spiral mono, for gpx or QED
X-Coils for GPX4500/5000 10_spi10

12x6 semi spiral, for gpx or QED, these have been around for awhile now with good success

No fancy colors here, just a beautifully built coil that works on any PI from SD to QED. My weapon of choice.

G'day Mike

Yes sure can, the following weights are for the GPX type coils

10" spiral mono is aprox 892 grams, the 12" spiral mono is aprox 915 grams, and the 15x10 spiral mono is aprox 1017 grams

they don't make a 15x12, there is a 17x12 spiral mono which weighs aprox 1085 grams.
