g'day from a newbie
Hi everyone new to the site,i chase the yellow but with pans only,in my area flour gold is the main catch with the odd small picker, thinking of getting a entry level detector looking at a gold monster or a gold cruz not sure if they would pick up small gold,or flour gold, know buggerall about detectors but reading all the hype from each maker it makes it hard to choose, not looking to start a fight over what make is best, but looking for input from people that use the machines, like pros and cons, bugs found fixed or not fixed, ease of set up and use and what size gold is a realistic target with either detector any info would be a great help thank's

Welcome to the forum grumpys gold, money is always a factor when buying a detector.
If you're in an area that has a lot of fine gold, I would suggest and research the sd 2300,great machine for fine gold, good luck.
cheers moredeep

Re: g'day from a newbie
Thanks moredeep heard about the sd 2300 more than i want to spend at the moment, i am a pick, shovel and panner, looking at a entry level detector just to have a go and see if i like the idea,no hire shops close to me, so thought i would buy one and have a play, there is picker and small nuggets about 2 hours drive from me.My thinking was to go entry level, if the bug bites hard enough upgrade later on.

G'day Grumpy,welcome to a great forum
Not too many detectors will pick up flour gold, but like Moredeep said, the SDC2300 is the go to machine for the fine stuff, like .01gram size.
You say you're budget won't stretch that far, then maybe check out the Minelab Equinox 800? Sells for around $1200 over here in Aust.
It's not a dedicated P.I. gold detector but will probably find a 'picker' or two if not too deep.
Good luck and happy hunting
Cheers... Dave
