Re: WA Prospecting Assistance
G’day PeterInSa,
We have been using this “geoview.dmp.wa.gov.au” on our IPad & IPhone and found it very good.
It’s free to download and works very well, but you need to have phone service when your traveling and tracking your route.
Here’s the link.

Cheers.

Re: WA Prospecting Assistance
Download the App on Smart phone, and all WA Tenements(so don't need a Mob Phone signal), carry SP with me, then at any time know where I am in relation to my 40e and adjacent leases and any other functions that can provide more info.

Re: WA Prospecting Assistance
right....happy prospector will do most of what you need it to do....costs money but is easy to use.
Lisa uses an app called 'all in one maps'...much better than happy prospector...free...but you need some basic file managment skills to use.
'Australia travel geology maps' is also a good one to look at.
Heaps of others out there.. but always try and keep it simple.
I would also say that smartphones have not replaced the GPS units...yet. I would still be using a dedicated gps unit for now.
Hope that helps.

Re: WA Prospecting Assistance
Hi Mike
The Viewer on my smart phone ie
http://www.dmp.wa.gov.au/WAGeologyViewer does NOT have the same functionality as in the introduction video for the WA Geology app
ie it does NOT have the Geolocation Button Symbol is a small circle with a dot in the middle and cross hairs outside the circle ( or the items below it) on the left of the "I want to" question, these functions include Follow Me and Find Me. Which are what I want to use. ie in the bush am I still on the lease? However when accessing on the laptop this info IS there.
Appreciate your comments
It does have the Tool box on the right of screen but I could not find these functions in it
View the introduction video for the WA Geology app.

Re: WA Prospecting Assistance
G’day PeterInSa,
Thanks for your reply and thanks for sharing the link above.
We have been using the dmp one on the iPhone and didn’t have any problem with the go find me or the following part, as long as we had reception.
Anyway we wish you all the best and good luck with your 40e and hoping you find a big patch.
Cheers.
Mike.

Re: WA Prospecting Assistance
Loaded below onto my Smart phone and Tablet. Had trouble with big files on the Tablet and the Developer was very helpfull in resolving the issue. A selling point to me was once downloaded you did not need to have a 3G/4G Internet. Hopefully will learn more about geology as one function of the App tell you the type of rock formations as you drive/walk over them, a more tech description is available also. All WA lease Maps are download and daily updates are available where applicable ( providing you have a signal). Cost around $35/year. Very happy with the App, time/use will tell.

Mate has the happy Prospector.
