I have an ACR ResQLink purchased from Whitworths Marine. It’s specs are similar to those for the GME.

I have had a MT410G since about 2011 and its battery life is about to expire, so will need a replacement.  I have thankfully never had to use it.  Although EPIRBs are now required to float, PLBs do not need to I believe, so depending on if your need is boat or land based, best to check the details of what you buy.

I am in a dilema as a result, as was originally purchased for boating and still have the boat, but has mainly been used for outback type travels for the last 5-6 years.

In most states, EPIRBs are required for boats that travel at least 2 nautical miles from the coast. If you're not travelling that far, you can use a PLB instead. (Australian Maritime Safety Authority).

Self buoyant PLB:

I have the ResqLink and the batteries needed replacing about 2 years ago.
I contacted the company that was listed for battery replacement, by email, and never got a response.
Still got the original batteries in it.

Regards Axtyr.

I bought one of these a while back and very happy with it so far especially since I haven't had to use it lol. I spend a lot of time on my own so probably a good idea to carry one. https://www.satphonesales.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=61&products_id=260&zenid=ap0nur40v30l6p7rrlhs1j6dc1
