More California Gold found...
Hey all, just wanted to share with you some of my finds....crystalline specimens are my
favorite
Leaf Gold in matrix...think I'll keep it in the matrix if I ever decide to sell....collectors may prefer it.

Thanks fellas, I was proud of this one.....I Like the contrast in color...Goldgasm, yes the leaf gold goes all the way thru to the top and I am guessing half way into matrix on the bottom section..I suppose if it were ever cleaned up i would want the top section matrix rock cleaned to the gold and would leave the bottom, maybe remove some matrix to expose more gold but having a natural base on bottom...

Re: More California Gold found...
Wonderful specimen great picture thanks for sharing,Gold of similar leaf appearance occurs in the Georgetown/Forsayth Qld area, some has very distinctive triangle/pyramid imprints... for want of a better word, I have not been able to find it intact in the matrix or host rock which I suspect imparts the marks, I wonder does that gold show any such surface marks?.

Thanks folks, Diggeremup, yes in our district I have found specimens with those beautiful formed pyramid shaped formations. As you can see in the picture below is one I found a few years back has them.

Very unusual piece.
Amazing how crystalline gold forms and is different to more conventional nuggets and specimens.
Thanks for posting.
Hope the fire situation over there is under control.

Re: More California Gold found...
gpzhunter,
Yup, we had and have multiple fires going on at the same time. Our fire crews are getting plenty of overtime...but they are doing a great job with air drops and ground crews protecting homes on the ground. Thankfully so far no one has been killed due to the present fires..mostly grass fires with many structures burned unfortunately. One positive thing is it's opening up areas to hunt...many of the areas are thick with scrub and much easier to swing those coils...

Wonderful crystalline gold. I'm going to visit the Mother Lode district next month while I'm in the US, been a dream for a long time! No detecting though.
