Hi all, what do you do in your spare time, when you can't go detecting? Have you any interesting interests? This is your chance to show them.

Here's a few of mine.
It's the 20th anniversary of my triple bypass this month, and I try not to waste a single minute of whatever time I have left. You just don't know what's around the corner.
1) Wood turning. Mesmerizing work, you can go in your shed and not remember to come out again. scratch

Just got my new lathe, heavy bugger, old one went to God due to motor burning out. Thanks to Kon and Nick (grasshopper) for helping me get it and unload it into the shed. It was  pure coincidence that you happened to be around when i had to pick it up.  And that you were in a great mood and was willing to help as you had found that 11 grammer the day before. Wink

This one was saved from a campfire up at Inglewood, a mallee root burl I think.

Then onto the lathe to see if it was worth saving.

Yes it was. Very Happy  Can't remember if we found any gold this trip, but I sure struck it rich! A beautiful piece of wood that almost went up in flames.

This one I finished this morning.

Did I mention it's addictive.

2)  My other "hobby" is riding the big Suzuki Burgman 650 Super scooter, terrorizing the good people of my home town. Razz

3) Also like to buy old knives, restore them, and make new sheaths for them.

Have a Merry Christmas everyone. Harry

Thanks Curley, sometimes you just have to make time for the things you enjoy. I got some fine gold by panning and I'll try the SDC again, but there's a lot of junk. The house is located at the head of an old gully. Harry

What mod culled my post ? it was tame ' todays TV programs show far more then the pic I posted ?
Was it the wording then ?  can't see that being a problem  .   scratch

You should have let the viewers comment  before just zapping it  !  Shocked

I don't know Jack. I'm sure you have some other hobbies that may interest the viewers, things like the quartz/ironstone species and meteorites that you showed me, and stuff like that. Very Happy

Merry Christmas to you and keep going with the dry washing device, that looked good as well. Very Happy

Hi Jack
Well what you seem to think is tame, we do a judgement call and think about the younger kids that also read this forum.
So away it flew! Very Happy

We know you aren't children... but geez you can act like it at times.

So now with all this HOT weather, and of course some nice refreshing drinks to help cool us all down this time of the year.. drunken
There will most probably be heaps more post's the Admin team may remove..
and as we also have busy lives.
Removing a post with girls with their nickers around their ankles and stuff like that will be removed and no notice sent..
I mean its just common sense... isn't it?
Have a good Christmas Jack..

Bubblegum bikie. Bubblegum bikie ? You, you, young whipper snapper! .... I'll have you know this bike can hit 180 KPH, and drag off any Harley at a set of lights. It does seem to get up to killing speed just fine. After getting there, what you do with it is up to you. Twisted Evil All in automatic drive, but has manual  gears if you prefer. And don't even mention the power button. Your entire grocery shopping fits under the seat  with 60 litres of space and 47 litres capacity in the top box! Electric up/down windscreen and electric in/out side mirrors.  Best kept secret of the bike world.
Show us your Hobbies Suzi_g10

Err.. goldchaser, did you say burl?  Listen umm....  I hope I wasn't out of line with that crack about you being a young whipper snapper...  Smile  you know I'd kill for some of those WA hard burls. V48

Thanks for that Jen and Mike.
Yes Mike, I spent this morning checking the 'Ember Defender'  spray system I've got on the roof of the house. Also have placed another 10 sprinklers round the entire house. The idea is to soak the outside walls and stop any embers from getting into the house. We'll see.

The rear wheel is huge in comparison to the front. It has alot more inertia and has alot more stopping power. I use the the rear brake for 80% of the braking force with the front making up the rest. In the burnout (1st pic) the rear tyre is doing 190mph (5th gear ar red line) the second pic is a lazy launch on the 1/8th mile track.
