Another 'which coil' question
I'm going to buy a new coil for my GPX5000. From everything I've read the best choice is going to be either a Nugget Finder Evolution, or a Coiltek Elite.
Currently I have the Minelab 11" and 15x12" monos.
NF Evolution options appear to be 12 and 15" round, 17x13", and apparently an 18" round coming soon.
Coiltek have 11", 14" and 18" round, and 17x11".
If I was to restrict myself to one new coil, which one would be the best choice.
And if I decided to get two new ones, what should I look at?
We travel around Australia so we could end up anywhere, but it looks like we will be in WA for a while this year.
My wife uses a SDC2300.
regards
John

Re: Another 'which coil' question
G'day John ,some times I think it's all to easy to be a'' coil junky '' me being one of them ,I run a 14'' elite with my 5k , and whilst I certainly agree it is extra sensitive , ( and a great spanner in my tool box ) but in highly / variable minerillis'd soils I've found I'm going back more and more to using the 11'' M/L mono ,which is a fantastic coil .IMO you've already got the perfect loaming device ,your wife with the 2300 ,and by following her with the 5k /11'' coil you've already got ,and trying to pick up anything deeper the 2300 can't see .Beside I've always reckoned trying to find the damn stuff in the first place is 90% of the problem ,then once you have ,well then that's a different story .

Re: Another 'which coil' question
Hi John,
coils coils haw many we have.
I think 12 inch would be nice universal not heavy, suitable for a lot of area.
For WA maybe little bigger as it covers more area.
Used coiltek and its great coil but NF are great as well.Maybe comes to personal choice on the end.
They are proven gold finding coils.
If you already own 11 inch coil personally i would go for 14
Good luck with your choice.

Re: Another 'which coil' question
Thanks for the replies.
After far too much deliberation I've decided to go with the NF 15" Evolution. It's a reasonable size, not too heavy, and comes with good reports.
The thing that tipped me over the line was Nenads video comparing different coils and various sized targets.
My take on the results was that the 15" Evo seemed to be the best allrounder.
Time will tell.
