quartz in rust stained soil
Gday guys whilst driving through gippsland recently I noticed in an embankment on the side of the road with a quartz vein running through it. The surrounding rock and soil was extremely reddened and rust stained. I do know of an old goldfield roughly 10 km away. Im guessing I should have stopped to sample. Since I've got home I'm wondering would it be best to sample the soil and small rocks in the dirt gutter running away from the vein or should I be getting a big dolly pot to crush up the quartz.
Cheers Kieran
