Detecting in Vineyard?
Hi!
I'm a newbie to this prospecting business and this forum.
I just bought a GP3000 with 3 coils (standard 11" ML DD coil, 450mm PRO DD round, 250mm PRO DD eciptic) at the moment I am staying at a vineyard and I have been asked to find a lost Leatherman in the rows of grapevines, have tuned it in and when I walk up the middle of the rows I get some strange noises but can find targets like d shackles and wire but when I search along the vines where the wires are it picks up the wire signal.
Any ideas about which coil I should use or settings?
Regards
Darrel

Re: Detecting in Vineyard?
M8 its a tough ask with all that wire, but if you put the small 250mm dd on and then go into cancel mode you may have a chance. Good luck

The leatherman should really howl if you get the coil over it,

Re: Detecting in Vineyard?
You probably already tried but in case not, to detect near the wires, instead of going in and out, run the coil constantly along under the wire, you will get feedback, but should stay constant, then any change in the threshold should give an indication of a possible find.
Hope this helps,

Re: Detecting in Vineyard?
Davsgold: I tried and it worked a treat, but still no leatherman.
Hunter2003: The first rows I checked the wire was only 4 to 6 inches off the ground and that would have worked but now it is 18 inches off the ground and I have to deal with steel posts every 10 meters and it screams so I told the guy that lost it, that if it is still there (and someone hasn't knocked it off) it will be around the steel posts so he thinks he might wipper snip it .
Thanks for all your help
