Hello from novice treasure hunter.

Post  MGO72 on Sun Aug 05, 2018 12:05 pm

I'm from Melbourne and am looking to buy my first detector. I want something that's suitable for the park and beach and relatively easy to use. I was thinking of perhaps getting a minelab x-terra 705. Would this be a good machine for a novice? Cheers.

G'day MGO72, welcome to the forum.

My thoughts, (if money is not a real struggle), go one better & get yourself a Minelab Equinox 800. Even though more expensive, It's the later technology. It will more than suit your needs/requirements, for what you have in mind & will give you even better chances, at finding items that others have missed, by using the older, superseded/surpassed technology .
Mind you, for a novice, it's not rocket science to use either.

Thanks Kon. I ended up getting a Equinox 600 which was more within my budget. I'm gathering some more tools and saving for a pin pointer next, then I'll be ready for my first hunt. Cheers
