Hi names Rudi ,I`m a real newbie to this gold stuff & am interested , anyone know about Mt chalmers mine & if you can just go & dig around or where any good spots are so I can test my detector , it`s a real cheapie but gotta start some where , any help here would be good , thanks

Try it out at the beach or parks. If you like detecting then move to an old ML pi detector to chase gold.

Hi Rudi ,good luck with the cheapy detector.Many years ago my cousin Steve [rest his soul] was out detecting for a full day with his wiz bang extreme detector with no luck.
After a cuppa and a ciggy he decided to look for the odd coin with his old "cheap" sovereign mine lab detector in a rubbishy area ,Steve saw the out line of what he thought was an old hut site and detected around it.
He got a signal that wouldn't cancel out ,eventually he dug out what he thought was an old lamp base,it turned out to be a 43 ounce nugget ,obviously buried under the poor old miners bed. The miner probably went of to the bore war, got killed in a mining accident or something like that.
So in reality it all boils down to good luck and fate.
