I have tried for years to keep these little bludgers out of my cherries. Now I let them go for it. I prefer to have a yard full of birds rather than a yard full of trees covered in netting. Very Happy

Made an error when I planted a miniature Mulberry to close to footpath in the front of home to shade the bedroom during the summer while I was sleeping during nightshift.
Now it is fully grown and one portion hangs over the foot path leading to front door. At this time of the year it is dropping literally thousands of fruit which require sweeping away each morning so we don't walk squashed ones in and stain the carpet.
We were sitting out the front having our morning coffee and we commented why birds don't come in and have a feast. Well low and behold in flies Mr & Mrs Crow and they go for it.
They have now invited their friends and about 1/2 dozen turn up every morn and night, just wish they would rally a hundred or so.
Love birds in the yard, we have pink & greys, corellas, wattle birds, honey eaters, magpies, willy wagtails, chip chips, green eyes, 28's, rosellas, doves and probably others.

I recall in my childhood home, having a HUGE apricot tree (i mean, it was a freak) and i hated having to mow the lawns on the weekend as all there was were squashed fruit underfoot as the birds "assisted" the fruit to fall....

I'm talking at least a 25' x 25' canopy saturation around the base of that thing....can still smell the combined aroma of fresh cut grass mingled with apricot..

And one particular summer gorge (age 5) landed me in hospital with appendicitis... Evil or Very Mad

Love the fruit we get, but dang nature can be cruel...lol

At first I grew the cherry tree for us but now it is for the birds. Also have plum trees and a loquat tree.
The cherries are White Heart cherries, the best cherries on the planet.

Our greatest joy was in 2015 when a rarely seen pair of Chip Chip birds (Striated Pardalote) burrowed a hole into one of our Stag Horns and raised two chicks. We were hoping they would return in 2016 but to date no movement. We observed these birds over many cups of coffee, working together they returned with usually a scrap of scale or tiny insects every 10 minutes through the daylight hours.

Nope not a dragonfly.
It is a predatory insect that takes its prey in flight.
Is wearing a nice pair of Ray-Ban sunnies. Laughing

I recall several years ago when out in the bush one evening taking a leak and heard a low buzzing sound followed by something attaching itself on to the end of the ole fella. I looked down and saw one of these buggers clamped onto the end of me donga. affraid

Well I can tell you that I invented some new dance steps that evening. Q24

A near miss between a jumbo and a lighty. Some Air Traffic control required here I reckon.
The aerobatic ability of the pink galah is something to behold.
I saw one of these little fellas do a 360 degree in flight on the spot turn in my back yard.
The Sulphur Crested cockies with their more than one metre wingspan thread their way between the trees in my not big back yard and can land in a crowd of twenty galahs with only approx 1 sq metre of clear space. I can feel the draught from their wings from twenty feet away as they set down.

I think the cockies are getting better at STOL. If they take off from the centre of my yard they will only just clear the fence. One tried to go over the house roof on one occasion but only made it to pergola hight and had to do a cct under the pergola and out between the posts and then over the fence. Now they all go over the fence.

I call the cockatoos Jo Anns because if you listen to them screeching at each other you will hear them call out JO AAANN JO AAAANN

Been looking into this camera.
Was on o e of those shopping channels last night. (but wait there's more).
Usually after that it's on Red Dot of reject shop.
Think I will get one.

HI Alan.
The P900 is a good camera although when using the zoom the resolution deteriorates making very small objects appear not pin sharp.
This is a 0.9 g nugg at high zoom and trimmed in the camera.

If you are planning on taking crisp close ups of small nuggs then I think a higher resolution lens system would be required.

If you are happy with the resolution then you will not be needing another camera after the P900. Very Happy
