Wow 1848 thats one of the oldest I've seen found in Australia. Would that be worth much?

G'day Stoppsy nice find just googled and those old English coins are still worth a bit. Yours looks in pretty good nick too. Very Happy I reckon your boys will be happy with it though. Here's a link where I had a bit of a look at.

Good find. The only old coins I have found so far were a couple of 1 cents 1, 2 cent a 3pence and a 1936 penny that has so much cancer corosion on it that it is hard to read. Would be nice finding a good one.

Stoppsy, I am also on the AMDRH forum and believe me to find a Crown is an incredible find. Make sure your children look after it. Soak in cloudy ammonia to clean up but I wouldn't try and clean it further. Again mate, that's an outstanding find. Well done.
